(PRWEB) September 21, 2006

Now that summer has come to an end, Ted Roberson, owner of Landscapeliving.com wants to help people with their gardening and landscaping projects.

Roberson says that many people are not as enthused about their gardens as they were at the beginning of the summer and tend to ignore them, but at this time of year, it’s important to deal with weeds, mulch, harvesting and cutting back flowers.

?Many of the chores that need to be done in the fall may seem to be tedious things, but they are important to help prepare gardens for the following spring and summer. Preparing the landscape for winter is especially important in colder climate zones where the ground will freeze and all of the plants and trees will be covered with rain, snow and ice,? Roberson said.

Landscapeliving.com is chock full of fun tools and tips to make the end-of-season gardening and landscaping experience a breeze.

“As homeowners ourselves we realize that there is a need to learn more about landscaping and garden projects that we can do around our home without bringing in big expensive landscaping companies to remodel our front or backyard environments” Roberson said.

?My website is full of articles from people like you on plants, landscape designs, tips, when to harvest and the tools needed to get your garden and landscape ready for the coming fall and winter months.?

To keep landscape and gardening projects protected during the dormant months, certain projects such as pruning ensures growth in the spring. One tip Roberson offers is to sod lawns in the fall if there are bare patches. This ensures lawns will be thick and healthy in the spring.

Another tip from Landscapeliving.com: don?t forget the walkway. Rain, wind, ice and snow can make walkways expand or contract leaving an uneven look. There are simple drainage remedies that can be done now to ensure a perfect walkway.

To make gardens look great all year around, visit Landscapeliving.com for authoritative information on all gardening and landscaping needs. Not only will consumers find tips and advice on preparing their gardening or landscape project for the spring and summer, they will fine tips and advice on what they need to do during the fall and winter months to prepare their landscapes and gardens for a beautiful look in the spring.

?Although many of these chores are not as much fun as preparing a spring landscape, just consider that the cooler temperatures make the chores pleasant and you?ll be prepared for the long winter months. Then next spring, your landscape will thank you for preparing it to survive a hard winter,? Roberson said.

Newark, OH (PRWEB) July 30, 2011

Basic Tree Care, the Central Ohio tree service, has expanded its offerings to include landscape contracting, according to Leah Myers, owner of Basic Tree Care.

?Our decision was to build from strength,? said Myers. ?Our goal is to become the Columbus OH landscape contractor of choice, just as our loyal customers have made us a premier tree service for the area.?

Myers went on to say, ?We surveyed the market and determined that landscaping is a logical extension of the service we offer. As professional arborists, we know that decisions about a tree are never made without considering everything that surrounds it, from the lawn to the hardscape such as walkways and retaining walls. We can now offer expertise to home and business owners on their total lawn and garden look, feel, and health. It allows our customers one stop, complete service.?

Myers added that many landscape contractors utilize tree services anyway when planting or land clearing. ?We can now offer our customers landscape design with an eye toward how everything will live together, and grow together. We know very well how to guarantee and maintain the health of trees; now we are able to plan lawns and gardens with the same care.?

Myers pointed out that fact that when a tree must be removed, due to disease, storm damage or age, it often creates an immediate landscape issue. She believes that customers will be better served when the company that is removing the greenery is prepared with options for filling the space, whether it is a replacement tree, or landscaping.

?We offer complete understanding of how to place landscaping plants, shrubs and trees so that they thrive. Our customers are coming to us seeking home garden plans, front yard designs and more. They appreciate that we look at their property as a whole, and are not just focused on the trees.?

Myers added that her firm now offers a full range of lawn maintenance, including fertilization, shrub care, leaf removal, weed control and mulching ? in addition to its longstanding tree preventive maintenance services.

Basic Tree Care is a certified female-owned business (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise ? DBE) serving Columbus, Ohio as well as Dublin, Newark, Lancaster, Gahanna, Westerville, Reynoldsburg, Upper Arlington, Delaware and Clintonville.

Article by Renaldo Mirambil

Of late, the famed ‘lucky bamboo’ – a type of lily actually – has gained massive popularity as an indoor decorative plant. As the West awakes to the Eastern spirituality and practice of growing bamboo, this plant has found new admirers worldwide.

This species basically belongs to the Dracaena family – Dracaena sanderiana. Plants of this family are famous for their ability to withstand unwholesome indoor conditions. These plants grow their stems in a manner which is very similar to the way in which bamboo plants grow their shoots. For this reason, plants of this family are popularly known as lucky bamboo.

In order to grow a beautiful and healthy plant, proper care cannot be overemphasized. Care of lucky bamboo plant involves simple combination of space, water, and ambient light. Generally a few inches of pure water is considered healthy enough. The plant can also be potted in fertile, moist and well-drained soil. To add more weight and beauty to the container, decorative colored marbles, stones or pebbles are often used.

It is important to use clear, fresh and de-mineralised water and recycle the same every week or two. If de-mineralised water is not used, leaves or parts thereof may turn brown or yellow.

Ambient light also plays an important role towards taking care of this bamboo plant’s health and growth. In nature, this plant is generally found under the shade of taller trees in a tropical, evergreen rainforest environment. In order to grow a healthy plant, therefore, it is imperative to simulate its natural environment. Any indoor location with indirect, bright light – natural or artificial – would do fine.

Be mindful of the fact that excessive strong and direct sunlight is harmful for the leaves of the plant. Lesser amounts of light will lead to weaker photosynthesis, and lesser food production, leading to inhibited growth and pale color. As far as temperatures are concerned, habitable indoor temperatures would just do fine. There is no need per se for strong light or temperature-conditioning.

Another area of care of lucky bamboo plant that deserves special mention is plant cutting. Even though a lucky bamboo looks intricate, its cutting is done in a different way than that for a bonsai. This species has an inclination to bend towards a light source, and this characteristic is used to shape the plant while growing bamboo. Different artistic shapes are thus possible through cleverly positioning the plant before a light source. This process needs patience, though. Do not expect quick results.

A word of caution: The leaves of this plant are reportedly toxic, though only to a slight extent. It would serve you well to keep it out of reach of kids and pets. In case of swallowing leaves of this plant, seek appropriate medical help.

Renaldo Mirambil is a passionate bamboo lover who shares his thoughts on care of lucky bamboo plant and numerous things related to bamboo through his site. Being born and raised in Philippines that serve as a great natural habitat for bamboo plants, he has virtually opened the door to wealth of knowledge on the subject of growing bamboo and its care.

Bamboo is a great indoor plant that can be grown in your home. Bamboo plant is easy to care, grow and it is great for interior spaces with dim natural light Bamboo is no more just a plant from China and favourite food of Pandas but it can also be used to brighten up your home!

Get a healthy bamboo chute for growing bamboo indoor as houseplant. Bamboo can be grown from cuttings and it is also propagated from Rhizomes. Rhizomes should be planted in large containers. In bamboo the basic varieties are categorized as clumping and running which describes the growth of the plants. Clumping Varieties are best for indoors.

Place your bamboo chute in a transparent container, transparent glass, and small pot or jar so that you can see the roots growth clearly. Fill the containers with decorative stones like adding pebbles, glass marbles, or stones to the container.

Keep you bamboo in two -3 inches of the stem submerged in water. Unlike other plants bamboo likes to take root in a few inches of water constantly in order to grow and to be healthy. Do not over water but replace the water routinely. Place your bamboo in a place where it can receive filtered or partial sunlight.

Growing Bamboo in soil:

Clumping varieties can be grown indoors using soil. Get a large container with adequate room for these fast growing plants. Make sure you place your plant giving enough space: at least two inches between the edge of the root ball and the side of the containers. Make holes in the bottom of the container for drainage. Bamboo likes loose and rich soil that drains well. Use plenty of peat moss and other loose medium partially with soil. Plant the rhizomes an inch deep in the container. Water thoroughly and keep the soil moist. Place the plant in full or partial sun.

Feed your young bamboo plant regularly, consistently and lightly during the growing season. Nourish the bamboo with fertilizer which is high in nitrogen with low potash. You can also use balanced NPK fertilizer for your bamboo plants. Bamboo is a fast growing plant they need rich nutrient to grow. Mix the fertilizer into the soil and water the bamboo once in every week to ease the absorption of the fertilizer. As the Bamboo plant starts to mature, it does not need much fertilizer.

You can also grow bamboo in hydroponics systems. Without soil you can use standard potting mix containing bark, peat, perlite, vermiculite for hydroponic growing.

Growing Bamboo indoor is said to be lucky because an ancient belief that growing bamboo is supposed to bring luck, success, strength and good fortune so they called it as Lucky Bamboo.
